Are you a student or emerging professional who has a cool Oregon-based project or research study to share?

Submit a poster proposal for Mpact Transit + Community 2025, coming to Portland this October! New this year, the Mpact Innovators, a national networking group associated with the conference, are hosting a poster session for students and emerging professionals to highlight local projects and research focused on transit, other types of mobility, land use and development. The deadline to submit is June 30.

Requirements 

  • The submitter must be a college student or emerging professional. An emerging professional is someone with 0-5 years of experience in their current field. 
  • The focus of the poster must be related to transit, other mobility options, land use or development. We welcome submissions on the many subtopics within these broad categories. See our conference page for more information about what the conference covers.   
  • The poster must feature an Oregon-based project or research study. 
  • Invited presenters must be available to attend the Mpact Transit + Community conference on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm, during the Monday Wind-Down Reception, to share about their poster and answer questions from conference attendees.  
Designing your poster 

Invited presenters will design a 24×36” display board about their topic and submit a PDF to Mpact. Mpact will provide a template to guide poster design. The board will be printed by Mpact at no cost to presenters. Full details including template, design timeline and more will be shared with presenters after they have been selected. 

When the poster session will take place 

The poster will be on display for the duration of the conference. Presenters will staff their poster during the Monday Wind-Down Reception on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 5-6:30 pm while attendees browse posters and ask questions. The conference hotel is the Portland Hilton Downtown, 921 SW 6th Avenue, Portland, OR 97204. 

Why you should submit a proposal to present 

Invited presenters will be able to showcase their work to an audience of over 1,000+ practitioners, leaders and advocates from across the US and Canada. Additionally, invited presenters can opt to attend the conference for free the day they are speaking (Monday, October 27). Note: you must cover your own travel and lodging, as needed.

Selection process and criteria 

After the submission window closes on June 30, a committee of Mpact Innovators will review submissions and select presenters. Submissions must meet the requirements listed above. In addition, we look for proposals that reflect your fresh ideas and Mpact’s values: 

  • Impact and Results: Real-world, practical applications to problems. Clear lessons learned for communities to take back home. 
  • Inclusivity: Cross-sector viewpoints from different industries, geographies, and backgrounds. 
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Provides an example of an effective cross-sector partnership. Advocacy and community perspective is represented. 
  • Innovation: Brings forward a new person, voice or perspective. Brings the best new tools and innovations to the challenges we face. 
  • Quality: Energizing and engaging. So what? Clearly conveys why the example or story matters, with relevance to other places. 
Timeline 
  • Now until June 30 – The Call for Posters is open. Proposals must be submitted by midnight Pacific time. 
  • Early July – The Mpact Innovators will review proposals and select 7-10 presenters to invite to the poster session.  
  • Mid July – Proposers will be notified of the status of their proposal(s). 
  • Mid July to August – Invited presenters will design and electronically submit their posters to Mpact. Mpact will print the posters and have them on-site at the conference.  
  • Monday, October 27 – Invited presenters will attend the Monday Wind Down Reception on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 5-6:30 pm and share about their posters.  
Submitting your proposal 

Ready to get started on your poster proposal? Fill out and complete our submission form by June 30, at midnight Pacific Time. In this form, you’ll fill out your title, abstract and presenter information. Questions?
